Personal data protection and supervision over collecting, processing and use of personal data in the Republic of Croatia is regulated by the Act on personal data protection (Official Gazette No. 103/03, 118/06 and 41/08).
The objective of personal data protection is to protect the privacy of individuals and other human rights and fundamental freedoms in the process of collecting, processing and use of personal data.
The protection of personal data in the Republic of Croatia is guaranteed to every natural person irrespective of his/her citizenship or place of residence, and regardless of race, skin colour, sex, language, religion, political or other convictions, national or social background, property, birth, education, social standing or other characteristics.
Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency has been established by the Act on personal data protection as an independent and autonomous body for the purpose of supervising the work of personal data processing in the Republic of Croatia.
